Carlo Benedetto Cimento was born in Bologna in 1990. He is a musician with a wide range of interests, that brought him across Europe. He decided to dedicate himself primarily to orchestra conducting and during his formation he could count on the mentoring of Christian Thielemann (Bayreuther Festspiele Conducting Masterclass), Daniele Gatti (Accedemia Musicale Chigiana) and Andrés Orozco-Estrada.

He is the winner of the “Ö1-Talentbörse”, awarded to the most talented music students in Austria. Among others, he has performed in the Gläserner Saal of the Wiener Musikverein, the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn in Vienna (Così fan tutteLe Nozze di Figaro), the Concert Hall of the Beijing CCOM. He has conducted orchestras such as the Münchner Symphoniker, the ORF Radio- Symphonieorchester Wien, the Norddeutsche Philharmonie and he is currently chef conductor of StOrch-München. Of particular value has been his experience in the sphere of historically informed performance, working as assistant to Martin Haselböck with the Wiener Akademie and to Christoph Meier at the Festival Teatro Barocco, where he conducted from the fortepiano Haydn’s L'isola disabitata. The production was nominated for the Austrian Music Theater Award 2019. In the Saison 2019/20 he served as coach and musical assistant at the Kiel Opera Haus.

After he obtained his organ (Prof. Pier Damiano Peretti) and conducting (Prof. Johannes Wildner) diplomas with distinction at the Music University in Vienna, he is now attending a conducting Master ́s degree at the Music University in Munich with Prof. Marcus Bosch and Prof. Georg Fritzsch.
